The Challenge

The challenge of the SATO Project was to unravel how to apply Nissan’s brand aesthetics and values into a product that could revolutionize individual urban mobility.

It was essential to deeply understand Nissan’s visual identity and translate this essence into an electric unicycle that was both innovative and functional.

Furthermore, it was necessary to align the project’s futuristic vision with the expectations of a demanding audience, while maintaining coherence with the company’s design philosophy.

The Research

The research conducted for the development of the Nissan SATO involved an extensive analysis of urban and individual mobility trends, focusing on solutions that could integrate advanced and sustainable technologies. Nissan’s design team conducted in-depth studies on user behavior in urban environments, identifying the main needs and challenges faced daily, such as congestion, lack of parking, and the search for eco-friendly alternatives. Interviews and focus groups with potential users were conducted to understand their expectations and preferences regarding new modes of transportation.
